Run the upper loop of the Noble Canyon 50K course- about a 12 mile section, followed by a picnic and refreshments provided by SURF.

The loop that is part of the course starts and finishes at Penny Pines, however, our post-run picnic will be at Pioneer Mail trail head due to parking considerations and the need for tables and rest rooms.

Please consider meeting at Pioneer mail and carpooling to Penny Pines for a 7:30 launch for the 12 mile loop.

Alternatively, you might like to start your run at Pioneer, adding 4 miles to the start and finish of the loop (that are not part of this year's course), for a solid 20 mile run.  The Pioneer Mail start will be at 6:30.

Here's a description of the route from the NC website:

After leaving the Penny Pines aid station carefully cross Sunrise Highway then turn RIGHT onto the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). After about 4 miles again turn RIGHT leaving the PCT and connecting with the Big Laguna trail system. This trail drops you into the Rat Hole aid station!

Leave Rat Hole by crossing Sunrise Highway and continuing on the Big Laguna Trail. Follow the maps westbound to Big Laguna Lake. Cross over the short dam and traverse around the west then north bank of the lake and lake footprint (don't take sunset trail).  Follow the maps to the tricky left onto trail #5 which will connect you again with the main Noble Canyon trail.

We hope everyone can meet back at Pioneer Mail for food and drinks starting around 10 am.
